Career Path Confusion

Ok, so I am graduating in June, and up until now, I had a very specific plan....work and pay off loans and then think about career satisfaction later. Bad plan, I know. The thing is I am completing an Adult Acute Care rotation now and being around all of the physicians and residents has me wondering if pharmacy is really for me. I am starting to really crave a career where I will be more involved in pt care/intervention. I am now contemplating attending medical school or exploring other avenues of pharmacy that may fulfill my career interests. So here's the question: What exactly does a clinical pharmacist do? What is the benefit of completing a PGY2 as opposed to just a PGY1? Is it insane to be contemplating medical school @ 28 after pharmacy school?? I appreciate all sincere responses and opinions!

Thanks

From the job shadows I have had it is my understanding that the clinical pharmacist resolves medication issues flagged by his counterparts in the inpatient pharmacy and adjusts medication therapy dosage according to protocol. In this role he or she evaluates dosage, potential drug interactions etc by reviewing the chart and calling the doc if necessary. Ancillary tasks include responding to drug questions from doctors and nurses. There is little or no patient contact that I have witnessed.
